One of the pains I have found with the whole blogging process is how to get traffic (visitors) to my blog.
By far the best way is to get free Search Engine traffic and this is achieved by getting indexed high in the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPS) for the keyword phrases you want to rank for.
#1 is the ultimate, however anywhere on page one (the top 10) should be the minimum goal of any blogger or webmaster. There are a myriad of ideas and strategies on how to accomplish this but which one is best?
The three main Search Engines are MSN, Yahoo, and Google being the grand-daddy of them all. There are many others of course, Aliweb being the oldest, launched in 1993 and the newest in 2008 being Vadlo. (source: Search Engines on Wikipedia)
The focus for today’s post is Google.
For better or for worse Google intends to be the dominant Search Engine on the web. They take their goal of providing the best browsing experience very seriously and go to great lengths to ensure the quality of results for any search query is of the highest best fit.
If you have been around on the web a while you may recall the “Google Slap” that reverberated around the net a couple of years ago. There was an uproar of many webmasters crying “FOUL!” when they suddenly found their sites plummet in rank and their traffic dropping to a trickle.
Personally I applaud Google’s initiative to clean up the SERPs to provide quality results. As a user of Google Search I was constantly dismayed at having to dig deep into the results to find the information I was looking for because all the spammy sites were taking up the top listings. My present day experience of Google Search is much more pleasant and satisfying.
I will be the first to admit that getting ranked high in the SERPs has eluded me to date, however with what I have recently learned about how Google ranks sites will change that for the better.
The sooner webmasters (and that includes bloggers) learn what Google really wants in the SERPs the quicker they will realize there are no mystical algorithms that you have to beat, there is no need to play cat and mouse with Google coming up with the latest way to trick Google into ranking your site high in SERPs only to start again once you have been sprung.
The solution is simple: Know what Google wants, play by its rules, and Google becomes your best friend.
So what does Google want? Good quality sites! Yes it is that simple.
The trick, if you want to call it that, is to know what Google considers a good quality site and what such a site would contain. Many may not know that Google has an army of manual site reviewers and Google gives them a guide to follow to rate specific quality criteria in which to score a site.
Once you learn how Google rates a site it’s a simple matter of adjusting your sites to comply and building some quality content and quality backlinks.
So how do I know all this?
Well I have my own copy of the Google Quality Rater Guidelines. It’s quite an eye opener and because it comes from Google there is no guesswork or supposition. You learn exactly how Google views sites and scores them.
You can get your own copy of the Google Quality Rater Guideline from Google Traffic when you get the Google Traffic Report that shows you how to dominate any niche overnight by using the Google Quality Rater Guideline as your guide.
There are heaps of bonus products to help you achieve this too but hurry as there are limited copies and the price goes up as more people buy their own copy. So head over to Google Traffic now.
